What a tablao night is like
A tablao is flamenco at close range: a small room, a modest stage, and a tight cast of singer, dancer and guitarist just metres away. At Los Gallos — one of Seville's oldest tablaos, going since 1966 — that means an intense, unamplified, goosebumps kind of evening, with the footwork ringing through the floor and the singer's voice filling the room. It's a performance to feel, not just watch.
Choosing your showtime
There are usually a couple of shows an evening. Book the earlier one if you want a long Andalusian dinner afterwards, or the later one to cap off a day of sightseeing. Whichever you pick, aim to arrive a little ahead — seating inside the room tends to be first-come, and the small size means good seats go early.
Where to sit
There isn't really a bad seat in a room this size, but the front rows are special — you're close enough to feel the zapateado through the boards and catch every flick of the wrist and turn of the head. If getting right up to the performers matters to you, come early and head for the front.
Build a Santa Cruz evening
Los Gallos sits in the Barrio Santa Cruz, steps from the Alcázar and Cathedral, so wrap the show in the old town: tapas and a glass of fino in the lanes, a wander past the orange trees, then flamenco. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before means you can lock in a night now and adjust your Seville plans later.
